Albert Rendle’s paintings are on show in our cafe from now until the 13th November. Rendle’s work is characterised by a bold, restricted colour palette, using subjects that have been stripped back to their basic form.
Each work contains the components of a memory without being one.
In this selection of works, landscapes feel familiar, faceless crowds feel detached, their form observed without recognition, suns setting and clouds moving by.
The organic imagery becomes a signal of safety to a primal human part of us, while simultaneously keeping the viewer one step back, and within a sense of unease.
As with the formation of a cloud, the process of creation is open to any outcome, a raw edge being guided by intuition and emotions, filtering information as one would whilst taking a stroll. The mind fills in the gaps, creating its own associations through symbols and silhouettes.
