I’m Maya, the owner of Woollyak. It all started with a crochet obsession at university that quickly spiralled into a full-blown love affair with all things fibre arts. My craft focusses on tufting, knitting and crochet (freeform). I fell in love with the process of making with my hands. It took me out of my head, offering focus and calm. I realised crafting wasn’t just about making things; it became a powerful tool to slow down, reset and reconnect with myself.
I believe that art and creativity is better when shared. Upon graduating, I started running workshops that brought together craft and community. I wanted to create a space that made learning the skills fun, inclusive and accessible. Sometimes fibre art crafts can be intimidating, so from the venue to how I teach, I try to remove as many barriers as possible into the world of craft. Whether you are picking up a tufting gun, a crochet hook or knitting needles for the first time, you are welcome here.
Woollyak is my studio, where I share fibre crafts through workshops and events, offer custom commissions and handmade rugs, as well as ‘learn from home’ kits where you can make impressive wearables using completely beginner friendly guidance and techniques.
