A daily painting practice…everyday noticing, studying small things. Seeing..reflecting..absorbing a particular time, a specific place, this little detail, the light on that shape… through colour, water, and paper. Deepening experience, feeding the inner life, and enchanting my senses with a very specific presence and study. I am passionate about the life-enhancing process of changing ‘one tiny thing’ every day.
“Our time is hungry in spirit” John O’Donohue
Sheds, the allotment, twilight, the moon, changing light, lichens and mosses, gardens, trees and flowers, forest fungi and foraged finds, mist, snow and occasionally people and dogs..these all enliven my spirit. The practice of being still and quietly looking expands my senses, enriches everything.
“..by drawing I have looked, and by looking I have remembered.” Mary Newcomb
Whilst most of my work is held in sketchbooks, as visual and written records, I also paint on small canvases, larger pieces of wood, walls and matchboxes. Work currently on show at Clayhill Arts and recently featured in Uppercase Magazine. Greetings cards on sale at Devon Guild of Craftsmen plus galleries and garden centres around the country.
I work to commission and welcome collaborative projects and residencies.
