I’m Robert Hickman and I make Italian-style (transverse) ocarinas under the business name ‘Pure Ocarinas’. The ocarina is a ceramic musical instrument from the 19th century with a haunting or ethereal tone. The instrument is capable of much more than people are typically aware, including a playing tradition where 7 players work together to create beautifully layered music. Personally, I mainly play Irish traditional music on multichambered ocarinas.

Serious Ocarina Player covers everything that is needed to master the ocarina, and is widely considered ‘the ocarina bible’. The Art of Ocarina Making is an ebook that introduces the process of making ocarinas, and the factors that go into making good instruments.
