Octagon is a co-working space for professional furniture makers, joiners and designers – set in a state-of-the-art 4500sqft workshop. We have everything a creative craftsperson could ask for with incredible facilities, a supportive community and in a fantastic location. Split into a machine area, assembly area and design studio, our flexible workspace is perfect for independent makers and small businesses.
Working in a co-working space enables our makers to offer premium professional services without the massive overheads whilst sharing the space with other like-minded creatives encourages collaborations, networking and friendly support and advice.
Furniture makers can rent one of our bench areas for all kinds of creative projects such as building kitchens, small crafts, set building, furniture making and custom joinery. Each maker has their own dedicated bay which includes a workbench, tool storage, build area and shelving. There are also allocated sheet and timber stores too. For larger projects there is a shared build area for breaking out into when builds require. Members also have access to our shared machine area which includes a Martin sliding table saw as well as a large range of professional woodworking equipment. We also have an 8×4 CNC router on site for the more challenging shapes and batch productions.
Next door to the workshop we have a design studio, ideal for interior architects, designer/makers and other creatives looking for a dedicated desk area in an inspirational environment. Being right next to the makers provides the perfect opportunity to discuss ideas, learn new materials and methods, collaborate on projects and watch the production process.
All our members have free use of our 1GB wifi and 24/7 access to our workshops. There’s free parking nearby and our premises are fully alarmed with key-fob access and CCTV system in place.
