I grew up in beautiful Pembrokeshire in West Wales before moving to London to study Printed Textiles and Decorative Arts. Whilst living there I worked in Notting Hill for an interior design business as a consultant and teacher whilst also carrying out private commissions.
After a tour of Mexico, which I’d always dreamed of, my passion for colour and culture was unleashed and continues to dominate my work today. I am constantly inspired by colour, symbols, textures and patterns from various cultures, particularly Mexican, Indian and Moroccan.
My paintings are various sizes although I do like to work in large format, and to use a range of media including Italian plaster, gold and silver leaf, acrylics and pigments. I enjoy experimenting with all of the above to create artwork richly layered with colour and texture to produce intense, vibrant and provocative images which capture the spirit of these cultures.
I work from my studio which is based at the stunning Barley Wood Walled Garden which is home to The Ethicurean Restaurant, working gardens, a cider barn and artist studios.
