I’m an emerging stained glass Bristol, UK based artist, my work explores how light filters through glass and painted detail to provoke connections to memory, emotion, and experience through nature, creating glass artworks.
Nature is my greatest collaborator. The wildlife I paint reflect personal connections and memories. My childhood was full of countryside walks, playing in rivers. Now having my own children, the connection to nature is core to my wellbeing and artwork.
I draw inspiration from the natural world, and use animals to create personal symbols. I use traditional stained glass painting techniques to create modern compositions that honor both craft and concept. My pieces incorporate images such as bees, hares, and seahorses—creatures that navigate air, land, and sea—to explore themes of fluid identity, and interconnectedness to my family and memories.
Each panel begins with a sketch, a feeling, a moment I want to hold still. I work slowly and deliberately, choosing glass not just for its colour or texture, but for the way it shifts mood with the passing light. I have recently started exploring painting with white enamel to bring in a further layer of pattern and line to my work. I enjoy seeing how the pieces respond to the changing light and offer the viewer different experiences as the day passes. The patterns I explore visually link to the animal focal point whether it emerges from its habitat, its food or decoration found in the home in the pet inspired pieces.
I have taught art to secondary school children for over 17 years. I approach stained glass with the same intention I bring to the classroom: to spark curiosity, guide technique, and invite emotional connection. In many ways, the stained glass studio has become a continuation of my teaching space: a place where process matters as much as outcome, and where every cut line and detail painted becomes a lesson in patience, experimentation and the joy of discovery.
