JI Botanicals: Regular & Themed Botanical Classes

Jackie is from Bristol UK and is a Fellow member of the Society of Botanical Artists. She is a self-taught artist with a great passion for painting flowering and decaying plants, meadow wildflowers, pollinators and nature subjects. Painting the beauty of decaying plants is one of her fortes. Her work is very detailed and botanically accurate. The majority of her work is watercolour and she teaches botanical & natrue art at venues and online. She is a very attentive tutor who loves to inspire and encourage! Regular courses are held in Bristol at Brackenwood Plant & Garden Centre.

Saturday Morning regular group tuition at Brackenwood Plant & Garden Centre, Pill Road, Bristol BS8 3RA

8 Students Maximum, Saturday, 10am - 1pm - 3 hours, £20

Beginners & experienced welcome 

This is a small friendly group that work on different projects each Saturday morning. Helpful individual tuition and demonstrations are on hand during the session. Learn watercolour techniques and improve your skills with expert advice and assistance (Max 8 students). Demonstrations and one-one tuition. Amazing cafe and access to plants. To be added to the waiting list please contact me. Dates below (these may be subject to change), you do not have to attend them all!

Plus Themed all day courses ( 1 and 2 day options) at Brackenwood Plant & Garden Centre, Pill Road, Bristol BS8 3RA

Weekend workshops in a small and friendly group. Subjects include botanical art (plants, botany, flowers) and nature subjects like shells, insects and butterflies. Expert tuition is on hand. Coloured pencils and graphite also possible. All levels accepted, some watercolour experience required for weekend full-day courses.

1 day course £30 - 10am - 4.30pm

Flower studies and a little botany

2 day course -bConsecutive Saturdays 18th & 25th September, 10 - 4pm - £60 

Watercolour experienced needed. Beginners and experienced welcome.  We will select plants from Brackenwood Garden centre (or bring your own) to study and create a floral page that will include botany elements.

We will learn dissection (tools provided) and how to draw a dissected flower accurately. You will also have a chance to look at flower reproductive parts on a microscope. This is a great way to learn how to draw plants accurately and understand their anatomy!

Painting pretty Pansies

1 day course 16th October 2021, 10 - 4pm - n£30 
Watercolour experienced needed. Beginners and experienced welcome
We all love pansies and some of the winter ones are beautifully colourful. Make a study page of different pansies or just paint one a little larger than life!

No tears! Onions and Garlic 

2 day course consecutive Saturdays -b20th & 27th November 2021, 10 - 4pm - £60

Watercolour experienced needed. Beginners and experienced welcome
Learn how to paint those papery layers using different watercolour techniques. Onions and garlic are such fun to paint!
