Get Creative: Micro-Commission Grants

Five £2,000 micro-commissions are being offered to support projects around England that will help to bring people together through creativity while physical gatherings are not possible.

Voluntary Arts is commissioning the five partnership projects, thanks to funds made available by DCMS and Arts Council England. As the COVID-19 pandemic has continued, we recognise that there are many people at higher risk of experiencing loneliness and isolation. More about the commissions and the process below.

You can find out more about this opportunity at two online support meetings that are taking place early next week. These are for anyone who would like to find out more about this great opportunity to get funding to use your group's creativity to help others who are feeling lonely and isolated right now.  There's a really fast turn around on this commission process as the projects or activities have to be delivered by the end of April.

We have also set up a new Facebook Group, called the Creative Network - South West, for anyone involved in participatory community creativity and culture as part of a voluntary, amateur or community based group or project across the South West.

This Facebook Group is for 'Creative Cultural Champions' - that's anyone who participates in or helps run everything from a traditional amateur arts and crafts group (singing, drama, dancing, quilting, painting, photography, writing, etc) to digital arts, street art, creative cookery and gardening - from knitting a jumper to playing a guitar, making a short film to arranging flowers, from self-governed constituted amateur arts groups to informal get-togethers and individual everyday creativity - from the 'serious amateur' to the occasional participant.

We hope to build a small community of 'Creative Cultural Champions' across the region, and if there's interest we plan to provide a series of free peer support networking opportunities over the coming months to support people hoping to start easing back into being creative in small social groups as the lockdown lifts. Please use our new Facebook Group to let us know how you are doing and what sort of support you feel your group needs right now and in the not so distant future.

The deadline for expressions of interest for the Get Creative Micro-Commission is Sunday 28th February 2021.
