Arts Council England: Covid-19 Financial support for organisations outside of the National Portfolio

Arts Council England are making £50 million available to organisations in the cultural sector, who are not National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) or Music Education Hubs. They can apply for a maximum of £35,000.

Which organisations can apply to this fund?

Organisations with a track record in publicly funded culture. This fund is to support them to get back on their feet, or to continue making work in the future that will mean they can contribute to delivering our new strategy, Let’s Create.

We will expect organisations who benefit from this fund to show how they will do all they can to support the freelance creative practitioners on whom they rely.

NPOs and Music Education Hubs are not eligible to apply to this fund.

How can this money be used?

This fund can be used to support business resilience as well as enable cultural organisations to develop new public facing activity during the Covid-19 emergency, for example, organisations who have new ideas to harness the power of digital in sharing creativity at the moment.

When do applications open?

We will publish the guidance including the detailed timetable for this fund on Monday 30 March.

Potential applicants will need to register for Grantium by Friday 3 April. There will be support for people to do this.

Where has this investment come from?

This is one of three emergency response funds we are launching. This funding has come from reallocation of National Lottery Project Grants, Developing your Creative Practice and our Development Funds, for the 2020-21 period, and uses up almost all of our reserves.

Is there any other support we should be made aware of?

If you currently receive funding from us, we’ve also announced measures with immediate effect to support grant recipients in the immediate term. More information can be found here.

The Chancellor has announced support for organisations and individuals during the Covid-19 crisis. See this guidance.

You can also find out more about how we’ve developed this fund, and the other two emergency response funds, here.
