How does the short form nature of social media change our storytelling?  Find out the answer to these questions and more, when you join us for a fun and informative 3 session workshop on creating your own films for social media.

What to expect //

Through the widespread availability of technology and the awesome power of the internet and social media, videos have never been more prevalent as a way of sharing stories, spreading information and promoting products, styles and ideas.But what makes a good story for video? How does the short form nature of social media change our storytelling? How do you make social media films with tools and equipment you already have?

The sessions will explore these questions and aim to give practical advice and experience for telling your own stories through video.These sessions will be delivered via an online portal and will work as follows:

  • 18th May, 10am – 12.30pm: Discussion and initial exercise + homework task allocated
  • 19th May, 11.30am – 12.30pm: Optional trouble shooting Q&A session
  • 20th May, 10am – 12.30pm: Sharing of projects and additional exercise

What will I leave with //

  • An understanding of storytelling principles for video
  • Confidence to create short videos using your in-house equipment
  • Increased understanding and skills in the principles and practice of social media filmmaking.
