Join this stained glass painting class in Staple Hill and discover the beautiful craft of traditional kiln-fired glass art. Guided by local artist Dawn Beedle, you’ll learn how to bring glass to life with light and shadow in a supportive, hands-on environment.
During this session, you’ll get to know the essential tools of the trade and the techniques used to create intricate, tonal designs. You don’t need any prior experience to join in – it’s all about having fun and trying something new. Your teacher will guide you through:
- Mixing professional glass paints – Learn the correct consistency for the best results.
- Brushes and tools – Get familiar with the specific equipment used for tracing and shading.
- Traditional techniques – Master the art of matting, shading, and sgraffito to add depth to your work.
Everything you need is provided, so you can simply show up and let your imagination take over. It’s a low-pressure way to spend an evening, focusing on the spark of creation alongside other curious beginners.
Once you’ve finished your design, your artwork will be taken to a professional studio for kiln firing. This process makes your painting permanent, ensuring your work stands the test of time. You’ll walk away with a newfound appreciation for this ancient craft and a unique, light-catching souvenir to display at home.
Please note: Your finished pieces will be carefully packaged and ready for collection from Staple Hill within two weeks. There is an optional extra £10 charge for a leaded surround, which can be arranged post-firing.
