North Bristol Community Project (NBCP) is a registered charity of 34 years standing. Our premises are at 160 Gloucester Road BS7 8NT.
The team is composed of community development workers, teachers, artists, ex social workers, local residents and youth workers.
NBCP exists to effect positive social and personal change by promoting well-being and encouraging community participation. Our services particularly target disadvantaged groups, older people experiencing social isolation, those with mild to moderate mental health issues, as well as catering for Bristol residents in general.
NBCP offers a supportive volunteering programme.
We aim to engage with a range of creative practitioners, art therapists, art students and trainee art teachers, makers, graphic designers, textile artists and others who can help us deliver diverse, inclusive, engaging arts programmes.
We aim to broaden our ability to promote health and well-being by running a small community cafe, providing a welcoming, supportive place to relax in, learn and play .
NBCP hosts a range of cultural events and workshops which provide opportunities for intergenerational skill sharing. Our Arts sessions enable people from all walks of life to come together, fostering greater understanding between residents and strengthening community cohesion.
Art therapy courses enable people experiencing mental health issues such as depression and anxiety to address these in a supportive, friendly, non-judgemental environment.
NBCP also provides co-working office spaces to creatives and start-ups as well as hot desking and studio spaces for local artists.
