Art Monthly hosts a rare opportunity to hear Seth Siegelaub, who organised some of the significant early exhibitions of what became known as Conceptual Art - and also to hear about what he did next between political commitments and research. In an interview published in Art Monthly in 1988, Siegelaub described Conceptualism as a 'fundamental calling into question of things', adding, 'That's what is so interesting about it and is probably why we're having this conversation.' Joining him in conversation is Pavel Buchler, an artist and influential teacher based in Britain since the early 1980s - previously to that, he had followed aesthetic developments of the kind supported by Siegelaub from Czechoslavakia. Although Buchler sums up his own practice as 'making nothing happen', he has also been preoccupied by articulating the relationship between art and political culture.
