1. JAMAICA STREET OPEN STUDIOS THIS WEEKEND
Artists at Jamaica Street Studios will be throwing open their doors for their annual open studios this weekend. This provides a rare chance to explore inside the Bristol based studios, which are normally hidden from view. As ever, this popular family-friendly event will feature a menagerie of art forms, including painting, printmaking, illustration, ceramics, textiles, photography and sculpture. Much of the work will be for sale at affordable prices and available to purchase during the weekend. This will be a great opportunity to see and buy some of the most interesting and exciting contemporary art and design currently being produced in Bristol. Many of the artists will be available during the weekend to talk about their work and answer any questions visitors may have.
The opening party will take place on Friday 1 June, 7-10 pm. The studios will be open to the public on Saturday 2 June and Sunday 3 June, 11am – 5pm. Entry is completely free and all are welcome.
2. NEW CREATIVE WORKSPACES AT SPIKE DESIGN
Spike Design is a fantastic new creative workspace designed specifically for start-up design businesses supported by the South West Regional Development Agency. Spike Design offers new businesses an inspiring environment, connection to a dynamic, creative community, access to regular independent business advice and mentoring from design industry experts. Offering a variety of working arrangements from full time supported business development to hot-desking, if you are a designer, design consultant or architect, work in marketing, fashion or photography or if you develop web sites, write copy or make films then Spike Design could be for you.

3. SPIKE ISLAND INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
Deadline: Friday 22 June
Spike Island has funds from Arts Council England South West on an annual basis to offer a production residency to a UK based artist. This is a unique opportunity for an artist to spend three months developing their practice in Spike Island's supportive environment. This opportunity takes place in Spring 2008 (negotiation of dates is possible). The residency includes a fee of £3,000 and use of a large studio with natural light and 24 hour access. A further sum of £2,500 is available to cover production costs and accommodation will be provided. The chosen artist will work towards a major solo exhibition at Spike Island summer 2008.

4. THE ROOTSTEIN HOPKINS ARTIST'S AWARD 2008
Deadline: Friday 7 September 2007
The Rootstein Hopkins Foundation has granted Spike Island generous funding over six years to support this major exhibition award. The opportunity is open submission for any artist in Bristol who feels that the time is right for them to have their first major show. We welcome proposals from artists working in all media. The selected artist will be offered a commission fee of £5,000 and an exhibition in Gallery 1 or 2 at Spike Island in 2008. In addition, funds are available for production and for the artist to work with Spike Island to publish their first exhibition catalogue.

5. STUDIO SPACE AVAILABLE IN CENTRAL BRISTOL
Blaze is the unique combination of studio and gallery-space , run as a co-operative of individual crafts people making and selling their work on the premises. The studio space would suit a ceramist, jeweller, enameller, printer, glassmaker or other applied artist. 6. PAINTWORKS AUTUMN ART MARKET
Following the success of the Spring Art Market in March, the next Paintworks Art Market will take place on Sunday 16 September. Pitch price is £25 per pitch and there are 35 pitches available, each measuring around 2.5 x 2.5m – giving around six square metres of space, (it will be possible for those needing more space to book a double pitch). Please note that the pitches are not all identical, they vary slightly in size and shape to fit the venue.

7. ST WERBURGHS CITY FARM SUMMER FAIR - WORKSHOP LEADERS NEEDED
St Werburghs’ City Farm is holding its annual Summer Fair on Saturday 9 June and they are looking for people to run craft workshops on the day to make things that could then be exhibited at the farm during the St Werburghs’ Arts Trail at the end of June

8. WELLCOME TRUST ARTS AWARDS
Deadline: 13 July 2007
Arts Awards is a new funding scheme that supports arts projects that engage with biomedical science. Open to a diverse range of individuals and organisations, the scheme builds on the success of previous schemes such as Sciart, Pulse, and Science on Stage and Screen, and is part of a £3.2 million Engaging Science programme run by Wellcome.
A call for applications is currently open, and full details are available on the Wellcome website, including application guidelines, examples of previously funded projects and application forms. 9. 'ART WHILE YOU WAIT' COORDINATOR WANTED. NORTH BRISTOL
Deadline: 15 June 2007
This small project aims to showcase the artwork of local art groups in the Lawrence Weston and Southmead areas. The coordinator would liase with local GP's and art groups and arrange and promote two exhibitions. The total budget is £800 to include framing, promotion and worker's time. The project would suit someone with an interest in Arts & Health and with some local knowledge of the area. 10. GALLERY 37 PLUS SEEKS ARTISTS, MAKERS & MUSICIANS
Gallery 37 - Creative opportunities for Young People - is looking for:
- A lead artist for the Design strand, 4 weeks full time 10am-4pm, Mon- Fri
- Workshops leaders in any design/making 3D and 2D form, t-shirt design printing, jewellery, accessories etc. A strong link within industry would be great
- Event managers, public and private sector that would be haapy to give a one-off presentation, talk or discussion
- Music workshop leaders in any format
The programme will run from 16th July to 10th August 2007 and there will be a need for artists the week before for some training, this can be negotiated. There is payment available, again this is negotiable towards to contribution. All artists will need experience of working with young people aged 16-24.
