OPEN IMPACT: UK Print Studios will be one of the largest print exhibitions ever hosted by Bristol’s major printmaking facility Spike Print Studio based at Spike Island – the celebrated, international contemporary visual arts centre in Bristol. Twelve stands have been taken by printmaking studios from all over the UK and Ireland.
The exhibition will be open from 12-20 September and is part of IMPACT 6, the bi-annual international printmaking conference, taking place in Bristol (16-19 September). At OPEN IMPACT the invited printmaking studios will exhibit their most enduring and successful work from the last 10 years at Spike Island. While the Alan Cristea Gallery, based in London’s Cork St, will be showcasing contemporary prints from artists as well known and diverse as Christiane Baumgartner, Gordon Cheung, Dexter Dalwood, Sue Arrowsmith and Paul Winstanley.
“People visiting OPEN IMPACT will have the opportunity to see some of the best and most recent contemporary prints that we have exhibited and published. The works on show encompass a range of techniques and approaches to printmaking by a group of well-known and emerging artists. We are proud to be involved in the OPEN IMPACT exhibition, as part of the IMPACT 6 conference, and to support the printmaking community. As an international event IMPACT provides the opportunity to meet printmakers from around the world as well as UK print studios, and we are looking forward to contributing to the many discussions about print that will come out of the conference!“, said David Cleaton-Roberts, Director.
Visitors to OPEN IMPACT will have access to the very best of printmaking, and an opportunity to see and buy contemporary prints – original prints are an accessible way to collect art at affordable prices.
Other IMPACT 6 venues and related exhibitions showing prints in Bristol during the conference include the Royal West of England Academy, Centrespace, SNAP, Blaze, Off Centre Gallery, and the University of the West of England, Bower Ashton. While the HIDDEN IMPACT: Prints in the City will see prints located in unusual places throughout central Bristol.
