UWE's Interdisciplinary Textile Design show - Bower Ashton
UWE’s Interdisciplinary Textile design cohort will be showcasing their graduate collection at Bower Ashton campus from the Saturday 14th to Thursday the 19th June 2008. Situated in the beautiful surroundings of Ashton Court Estate the exhibition will present a diverse and innovative display of creative talent emerging from this unique degree course. The students contemporary and highly concept led approach results in an exciting collection of work that blurs the boundaries between art and design. The cross- disciplinary nature of the course has enabled these undergraduates to employ such varied processes as print, ceramics, animation, mechanics and metal work.
Individual explorations of a diverse range of materials and processes have resulted in an exhibition which stimulates the senses and encourages us to fully engage with our surrounding environment. Works will range from lighting design, to furniture and contemporary wall coverings, through to mechanised sculptures, touch sensitive floor coverings, jewellery design and much more. This delicate balance of concept and idea driven material investigation has produced a history of award winning designers.
All are welcome to come and immerse themselves in this thriving creative environment. Live music, D.J’s, and a barbeque will also be held on site and as part of Bristol’s Design Festival the weekend is set to be an unmissable event on the creative arts calendar, The Interdisciplinary Textile degree show is a great opportunity to view a diverse range of work and catch a sneak preview of the city’s next
generation of innovative designers and artists.
