South West Open Studios

South West Open Studios (SWOS) is an independent organisation that aims to promote the development and sustainability of artists' Open Studio and Art Trail organisations in the South West. This website is of use to people who want to find an open studio or art trail in their area and for anyone organising or thinking of organising this sort of event.

Jamaica Street Studios

Jamaica Street Open Studios, Friday 13 June, 6.30-10pm, Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 June, 11am-5.30pm

Bristol’s Jamaica Street Studios throw open their doors this June for their 2008 Open Studios exhibition. Situated in the heart of the Stokes Croft area, these are the largest artist-led studios in the South West. This popular annual event features a variety of artwork, including paintings, printmaking, textiles, photography, sculpture and illustration. Many of the artists have exhibited nationally and internationally.

Southbank Arts Trail

Southbank Arts Week, 10 & 11 May 2008

The annual Southbank Arts and Performance Trail where artists open their homes as galleries with local galleries, cafes, community centres and gardens joining in to create a weekend of exciting arts.

Studio Upstairs

The Albion Open Studio,
Studio Upstairs, Unit 1&2 Albion Dockside Estate, Hanover Place, BS1 6UT

Studio Upstairs is for people whose interests, abilities and talents can be expressed through the arts, yet for various reasons are unable, or actively choose not to participate in the already existing institutions. Up to 30 emerging and established artists will be exhibiting painting and drawing work.

Easton Arts Trail

Easton Arts Trail: Visual & Performing Arts in Bristol's East Side

This year there are more than 35 venues and over 100 artists, makers and performers taking part in this dazzling celebration of Easton’s creativity. There is so much to see and do, we hope you can find time to fit it all in!

St Werburghs Art Trail

St Werburghs Art Trail, Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 September 2008

St Werburghs' art trail is small but perfectly formed! Come and see work by at least 35 artists in 10 houses, 2 studios (Botany, Boiling Wells) and 2 allotments. The Community Centre, the climbing centre, the Scrapstore, Artrageous, Better Food supermarket, the Miners Arms, and the city farm cafe will also be exhibiting work. Open 11am - 5pm.

Mivart Street Studios

Mivart Street Open Studios, Mivart Street, Easton, BS5 6JL

Mivart Studios is the largest and most eclectic of the city's studios, hosting a wealth of visual, performing and musical arts. The vast Victorian brick studios are situated amidst a multi-cultural and bustling residential area of Bristol and provides affordable long let studios and exhibition spaces to showcase work. The studios also provide a range of workshops.

Front Room Art Trail

FRONT ROOM was the first art trail to appear in Bristol and boasts a host of professional and amateur artists working in a wide variety of mediums. Move from finely woven textiles to bold and brash installation art, delve into the fascinating history of Totterdown or catch live performances in the local pubs. Once again visitors will be encouraged to leave the car at home and to meander from house to house guaranteed of a warm welcome from local artists and residents.

North Bristol Art Trail

This will be the 6th annual trail by North Bristol Artists. Numerous venues will be open to display and sell artwork from professional and semi professional artists, including painters, printmakers, sculptors, potters and jewellers. Taking place just before christmas, the trail is the perfect opportunity to buy that special present too. Areas covered by the trail include Bishopston, St. Andrews, Horfield and Montpelier to name but a few - a detailed Trail Map will be available nearer the time.

Art on the Hill - a new arts trail for Victoria Park and Windmill Hill. It will take place on 29 and 30 September 2007 in the Windmill Hill and Victoria Park areas of the city. Over 50 artists have signed up in 23 venues so far and they are all geographically close so not too much walking!
