Spoon Fed is a simple soup supper + independent micro-funding scheme for creative projects

We're a new collaborative group of cultural producers who are starting a series of events that we hope will be of benefit to both individual artists and the wider creative community in Bristol. Spoon Fed is a bimonthly soup supper and micro-funding scheme for creative projects - the first will be held on Sunday 19 February at The Motorcycle Showroom on Stokes Croft.

People can propose projects for funding in advance, or just come along on the night to contribute to the grant fund, find out what others are up to and help choose the winner of the grant.

We'd be very grateful if you could help spread the word by forwarding this email to anyone you think might be interested and/or by sharing the Facebook event.

many thanks, the Collect

Spoon Fed is a simple soup supper + independent micro-funding scheme for creative projects.

Give a little and get a little… Spoon Fed offers a direct, uncomplicated way to make possible ambitious projects that might not otherwise be realised.

A grant of £150, or even just £50, can make a big difference to an artist, writer, performer, or musician. This may enable them to complete a piece of work or travel to participate in an exhibition or event, but there are currently very few avenues for securing this relatively low level of funding. These bimonthly events aim to develop a strong, generous and diverse network of local practitioners and audiences by offering a platform for sharing practices and facilitating discussion.

At the Spoon Fed event we ask attendees to make a minimum £5 donation toward the grant available on the evening. After sharing a soup meal and hearing about each of the proposals, votes are cast. The winner receives the full amount of the evening’s donations and will be invited to present the outcomes of their project at the next event.

Proposals to be considered for funding are now invited from creative practitioners. We are taking them until midday on Saturday 11 February, and they will be posted at www.thecollect.org in the week before the event. See our website for application details.

We’re also asking everyone to book so we know how much soup to make.
