Mad Hatter's Ball Exhibition

Contemporary arts biggest names to go on display ahead of charity art auction.  Work by some of contemporary art’s biggest names will go on show at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery from the 8 March ahead of The Mad Hatters Ball and Art Auction, a major fundraiser run by Action for Kids in partnership with Bristol Museums, Galleries & Archives.
 
The Mad Hatter’s Ball will be held at the Museum on Saturday 26 March 2011. All proceeds from the event will go towards practical art programmes for children at M Shed, the innovative new museum for Bristol opening on 17 June.
 
The exclusive art auction will feature over 30 extraordinary artworks generously donated by some of contemporary art’s biggest names including Ben Eine, whose work was amongst the official gifts given to Barack Obama by David Cameron on his first trip to Washington as Prime Minister, and Shepard Fairey, who created the iconic “Hope” poster for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
 
The auction will also include a piece by world famous Bristol based graffiti artist Nick Walker, whose work is coveted by collectors worldwide.  Other renowned artists include Conor Harrington, D*Face, David Stoupakis, Carol Peace and Chloe Early.
 
A selection of these pieces will go on display at the museum giving potential bidders and the public the opportunity to preview the work before they go under the hammer.

The Mad Hatters will also include a cocktail reception, dinner and entertainment. There will be a silent auction with opportunities to bid a yacht cruise, valued at £7000, donated by MSC cruises. All tickets purchased for the event will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a piece by Shepard Fairey – a silk screen AP entitled  'America's Favourite'.
