May's featured talks will be:
Martin Edwards - Panomania - Panoramic photography "Film photography is not dead - it’s just getting stranger..."
Using three different specialised panoramic cameras Martin has been photographing Bristol in a way it has not been seen before. Moving and tilting the camera during a long exposure gives a distorted view of our city which is both strange and revealing.
These bright, colourful photographs are ‘straight’, created in camera rather than by digital effects, and so they represent a uniquely photographic way of seeing.
As well as exhibiting his work, Martin teaches photography at City of Bristol College and works as a freelance photographer and trainer.

Jenny Hardy - Documenting charity work in Sierra Leone - The Highs and Lows Jenny will be showing a selection of images taken while working in Sierra Leone for two charities, The Piers Simon Appeal and Street Child Sierra Leone. Working for charities can be a good way to build or enhance a portfolio, but working in any country that has faced troubles or is experiencing extreme poverty presents many problems not only logistically but also ethically.
Jenny will be talking about her experiences, both the successes and the lessons she has learned, as well as her approaches to storytelling through photography. She will also give advice on how to obtain work with charities and the necessary funding.
Jenny is a documentary photographer based in Bristol. Three of her Sierra Leone photographs were recently exhibited as part of the Open Photography 2 Exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy.
