What a treat! Three days of drawing and eating fine food. Peace, quiet, birdsong, nature. Draw with the group or on your own. Learn, experiment and indulge yourself with the time for drawing.  The first residential with the Bristol Drawing School takes place on 20 - 22 April 2010. 

Nestling in a gloriously green woodland valley, two miles from Barnstaple, Broomhill is a late Victorian hotel with an award-winning restaurant, contemporary art gallery and sculpture park. This course is available as residential or you can come on a daily basis, and meals are included (see pricing below).

Key Themes

  • Each session will be structured to focus on a particular aspect of drawing outside and will be flexible to develop individuals’ drawing skills
  • Drawing outside, experimenting with materials and approach
  • Observation, drawing into print, focus, scale, composition, mark-making, monoprint, developing/using drawings in your work
  • Optional life-drawing
  • Using reference to 19th, 20th and 21st century artists approach to landscape
  • Residential participants welcome to continue work outside session times
